Eldom Coffee Technologies AG was founded in 1983 by Martin Tschuor and
a partner. Both of them had a lot of experiences in household
appliances and had big plans – regardless of the existing
recession. The young company became the Swiss general
agency of the well-known Italian household appliance brand
De'Longhi and sold the appliances with large success. Up to
65'000 oil filled radiators were sold in years with high turnover.
Already in the company’s early years the partners started with
own development and production of electrical household
appliances. Many appliances were developed for private
brands such as Philips, Tchibo or Krups. Coffee and espresso
were emphasised since the beginning, but other appliances like
vacuum cleaners, raclette sets or irons were also developed. In
spite of the increasing competition coming from China, quality
made in Switzerland could be produced in cooperation with
different production partners such as facilities for disabled
people.
As most European companies moved their tools and production
to the Far East, Eldom expanded its development department
and continued investing in Switzerland.
In order to invest in further projects, Eldom required a new
partner .In 1997 F.M. Zumtobel Holding & Consulting GmbH
was found as the desired partner. New projects could be
started, such as 123 Spresso a coffee machine using single
coffee portions.
At the end of 2002 the company strategy changed to focus on
the core competency in order to present Eldom on the market
as an „independent“ partner in coffee technologies.
For this reason the project “fully automatic machine” was sold
to the Dutch company, ETNA Vending Technologies BV.
The trading business was discontinued and the general agency
business for De’Longhi products was given up by 31st
December 2003. The coffee technology was given full
attention: the core competency, know how and experience has
been built over the years. Partnerships with Swiss and Far East
production companies have been intensified, allowing Eldom
the possibilities to offer the right production sites for its
worldwide clients.
Major internal improvements in our premises, especially the
installation of a multimedia room for video conferences as well
as the extension and modernisation of the CAD/IT
infrastructure and the implementation of the process-oriented
management system ISO 9001:2000, were completed in 2004.
Eldom Coffee Technologies AG is therefore well prepared to serve its clients in the best way coffee technology, today and in the future.
